About Me

Transportation Tips and Advice There are many different methods of transportation which can be used to move people and goods around the country, from city to city and across the Outback. I have always been fascinated by transportation. When I was a boy, I would see a truck on the highway or a train on the tracks, and I would wonder where it had come from and where it was going. Although I don't work in the transportation industry, I have spent the last 10 years of my learning all I can from trade magazines and from conversations with transportation professionals. I hope you enjoy my blog!

One of the best skills you can learn is flying. It will equip you with the knowledge and experience needed to fly commercial airplanes, small private jets, and other types of aircraft. There are many flight schools in the country, and choosing the best could be complicated. However, if you take time and decide what you want to get out of the training, you will choose the flight school that will give you the best value for your money and time. Here are three guidelines to help you make that choice.

The Cost of the Course

Learning to fly is not cheap. Some of the costs you will have to incur and deal with include aircraft rental, fuel cost, the instructor's charge, taxes, processing fees, books, other equipment and many other related charges. All these contribute to the overall cost of the flying course. Other charges include examiner fees, landing charges, and overnight charges. Different flight schools will charge different amounts of money for the flight training; it is your responsibility to get quotes from a number of them and settle for the one which works best for you.

The Experience of the Flight Instructor

The basic requirements for every flight instructor are to have the right qualifications from an accredited institution. However, it is good to dig deeper and find out where they attended flight school and how long they have been instructing students. It is also good to hear what a few past students have to say about flying with the particular instructor. Note that many flight hours does not automatically mean the instructor is the best; your goal is to find a gentle instructor who communicates well and makes you feel comfortable during training.

The Standards of the School

The reputation of the flight school gives a lot of information about the quality of training they offer. One of the best ways to find a good flight school is to check if they are listed with the local Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) examiner to find out their recommendations. If a school has a history of CASR standard violations, find out more about the case before getting into a deal with them.

Note that the cost, time and standard of training determines the outcome of your commercial flight training. The CASR has a minimum number of hours it will require you to fly before you can be certified, so you should look for a school that will help you learn within this time frame. You will find learning how to fly is delightful when you choose the best flight school.
